Chintan Nanavati's Innerlight Healing

Chintan Nanavati is an "Energy Healing Therapist", a "genuine psychic, clairvoyant, clairaudient and clairsentient medium" who also provides "Tarot Readings, Tarot Magic, Candle Magic" and "spellcasting".

With such a wide portfolio of talents, he must be earning a good income. I wonder why, then, his adverts are only the size of a business card?

Of all the claims on Chintan's handout (available here and here), it's the healing service that causes me concern.

"HEALING THE WHOLE OF YOU - InnerLight Healing is a powerful, non-invasive therapy without side-effects... The healing can be effective in helping to manage a variety of conditions including: arthritis/various types of chronic pain including sports injuries, depression... insomnia... terminal illness and many more."

Arthritis, depression and terminal illness, eh? ASA complaint follows!

"I'm writing to complain about a handout for Chintan Nanavati, which I picked up from a stall at the 'Mind Body Spirit' exhibition in London on 26th May.

The handout promotes the advertiser's "InnerLight healing" therapy, and contains some health claims which I suspect are misleading.

1. "HEALING THE WHOLE OF YOU - InnerLight Healing is a powerful, non-invasive therapy without side-effects... The healing can be effective in helping to manage a variety of conditions including: arthritis/various types of chronic pain including sports injuries, depression... insomnia... terminal illness and many more."

I'd like to challenge whether the advertiser can substantiate his claim that the InnerLight Healing therapy is "effective" in managing arthritis, chronic pain, sports injuries, depression and insomnia.

I can confirm that I have no connections with the advertiser or with the alternative medicine industry in general."
